Facilitated Workshops
SD Partners provides an approach to workshop preparation and execution that ensures any conflicts between a project's 'stakeholders' are resolved, that all staff 'buy in' to the product that is the subject of the workshop, and that the project moves forward quickly. Workshops are not simply 'talking shops'. They are run by a 'facilitator' in a highly structured way to a clear set of rules, designed to achieve agreed objectives.
The technique can be used to support many others used during IT development, from strategic planning through to implementation. Examples include risk analysis, requirements definition, human-computer interface definition and prototyping.
Project and Portfolio Management
SD Partners has helped clients to establish a project management centric environment that uses repeatable processes. We have produced customised 'best practice' manuals, trained IT and user staff in PM techniques and concepts, and provided mentor programmes with on-call assistance from our project management experts. We help clients introduce Project Support Offices with the aim of centralising planning, monitoring and control for all projects. We have also developed Project Portfolio Management processes for clients. Building on standard project metrics, introduced by the formalised project management approach, the portfolio management process enables the Project Support Office to provide decision support information covering resource planning, resource utilisation and progress monitoring at an Executive level.
Rapid GUI Development
SD Partners has developed an approach to the rapid development of IT applications that incorporates a highly collaborative approach throughout. Initial requirements gathering is conducted in a workshop environment involving staff with a 'stake' in the project at all appropriate levels of the organisation. This approach is used within GUI development to ensure that the user interface matches the manner in which an organisation works.
Our technique will provide direct input to all of the 'power tools' required for rapid software delivery, irrespective of the technical approach adopted.
E-Commerce and Web Development
SD Partners has developed a wide variety of web-based applications, from corporate web sites and Intranets to data driven web-based front-ends.
The desire to use the Internet as a communications channel to sell products and services and the ability to reduce transaction costs has encouraged the growth in our interest and emphasis in web development.
Package Evaluation
"Off the shelf" packages can be difficult to choose, rarely meet with the Clients exact requirements and fail to give a competitive edge. We, at SD Partners, have expertise in reviewing software packages for our clients by following a structured method. We will identify the best package, specify any bespoke development, liaise with suppliers and project manage the installation.
Microsoft Products
We have developed Microsoft Office applications - including a complete document management and document generation system for Microsoft Word. The tasks included migration, template and macro conversion from WordPerfect to Microsoft Word, creation of Excel templates, Microsoft Project templates and the development of MS Access databases for single as well as multiuser systems, world-wide.
